    Target Protein

Principal Names: MERTK; c-mer proto-oncogene tyrosine kinase; mer; C-MER; c-mer
    Official Symbol: MERTK
    Accession Number(s): NP_006334
    Human GeneID(s): 10461
Gene Ontology Terms: transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase activity; ATP binding; receptor activity; cell growth and/or maintenance; vision; protein amino acid phosphorylation; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; cell-cell signaling; soluble fraction; integral to plasma membrane; transferase activity

    Immunogen

Peptide with sequence C-DSSEGSEVLM, from the C Terminus of the protein sequence according to NP_006334.

    Purification + Storage

Purified from goat serum by ammonium sulphate precipitation followed by antigen affinity chromatography using the immunizing peptide.
Supplied at 0.5 mg/ml in Tris saline, 0.02% sodium azide, pH7.3 with 0.5% bovine serum albumin.
Aliquot and store at -20°C. Minimize freezing and thawing.

    Applications Tested

Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:2000. Western Blot: Approx. 30kDa band observed in Human Brain, Human Ovary, Human Kidney, MOLT-4 and U937 lysates at 1ug of primary. Please note that the band we observe is different from the predicted size of approx. 115kDa according to NP_006334. Currently we cannot find an explanation for this in the literature. We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any splice variants/modified forms been reported?

    Species Reactivity

    Tested:
    Expected from sequence similarity: Human

    Aspiring Grade Product

    Aspiring Grade Antibodies
Please note, this product is one of a range of Aspiring Grade antibodies, made against targets that have limited or no commercial antibodies available to them and for which there are no data on the expression of the protein in the range of common cell lines and tissues available to us. These antibodies are affinity purified using their peptide immunogen and are known to give low background staining in a western blot (see Application Notes below). However no additional claims are made for their ability to recognise native protein in any application.
